Color Schemes for a Kids Bath
Color is an integral part of any kids bath. This is one of the cheapest ways to decorate and it also has the biggest impact. You can really experiment with a lot of different colors to create a specific theme or style. You'll probably want to keep the main colors of your bathroom pretty neutral. This is really important if you are planning to sell your home later on. Plus, kids tend to outgrow their designs styles pretty quickly so you want to have something that will work with a lot of different tastes.
You want to use your color on the items that you can change out the easiest. These can be the bathroom accessories and rugs. This gives you an opportunity to really redo your color palette whenever the mood strikes you. You just have to go out and pick up a new towel and curtains as well as a different tooth brush holder to get a completely new look. This allows you to easily and inexpensively redo your bathroom. You'll want the higher priced items such as tile, flooring, vanities, and sinks to be pretty neutral. You can really incorporate white in a lot of different design styles to really have a big impact.
You can incorporate a lot of fun colors into a kids bath. You could go with a basic primary color scheme such as a bright yellow and blue. This will be bright and cheerful and at the same time its pretty gender neutral. It can work for all different ages. It's also perfect if you have a boy and a girl sharing the same bathroom and they can ‘t decide on which color they should have. This can seem a little bit juvenile so you want to make sure that you have different ways to make it sophisticated by bringing in colorful modern art.
Another color scheme for kids bath is a neon design style. This is where you would bring in a lot of really bright and vivid colors. This could work perfectly for a teenager. It's also another option if you don't want to decorate every few years. This style can grow with your child because it is quite sophisticated. You can bring in a lot of bright pinks, oranges and greens. The colors don't even have to match as long as they have the same vibrancy and they are all very bold. This allows you to bring in almost any color as long as you find the right shade.

Bathroom Themes
Another part of designing a kid's bathroom is a theme. This isn't necessary for every single room of this type but it can really give you a lot of design direction. Again you want to keep your theme and find balance. This is a small space so you don't want to overwhelm it with a lot of clutter. The accessories that you do bring in should be useful, or at least small enough that they don't take up a lot of space. Here are a few different ideas for a kid's bathroom theme.
Try something based around water. This is a pretty neutral theme but it's also a little bit literal for younger kids because the bathroom is based around water. You could even make things a little but more sophisticated just by changing things up with more of a bubble theme. You could paint circles on the walls and it would have a very modern art effect.
Another option would be a rubber duck theme. This can have a big impact that you can create quite inexpensively. You'll just need to start out with a vinyl shower curtain and then paint the walls blue. Then you could just place a few bathtub toys on a floating shelf. This is a very fun and whimsical theme that can be quite cheerful first thing in the morning.
Another water-based theme would be that of the ocean or the beach. You can paint a simple wall mural on one wall. You could also make things a little bit more sophisticated by just bringing in ocean colors. Instead of going with the typical wallpaper border you could invest in a few original photographs or hang some of your favorite vacation. This is also important because it will bring a lot of light. These rooms are often quite small and dark. You want to create the illusion of more space and light whenever possible.
