You can take kids nursery furniture in a lot of different design directions. This ensures that your child gets a totally unique take but you still have all of the storage space that you really need in a room. It's important to really work this kind of piece in with a specific design style just because kids rooms are very small. You might want your nursery to feel light and airy but you are just a little bit short on space. In this case it can be important to really to just have a very cohesive theme and flow throughout the room to really make the entire space feel larger. At the same time, you will want to have furniture that is durable because your child's going to own this for years or even possibly decades.

What you want to consider is color. This is a way to have a lot of fun with plain dressers. It allows you to incorporate different pieces that you already have in your home to just give them a little bit of a facelift. For instance you could paint each drawer a different color. Then you could just paint wood knobs in the same colors as the drawers but just switch them up so there are alternating colors. This can add a lot of interest. In fact it would be a very different way to just bring in neutral color furniture. This is really going to allow you to decorate with whites, creams and the browns that are so durable but you still get a totally different take on them. This kind of style can be a little bit powerful so you might not want to use it on all of the pieces of the furniture. For instance you could paint some of the furniture white and some of the furniture cream or brown. Then you could tie it all together with just one piece.

In order to save money or just provide a sense of history you might be using items from your own childhood. This is perfectly acceptable if you have a really tight budget or are just sentimental. The most important thing is to make sure that it is still safe for your child. There are a few different ways that you can really change up the look of this kind of furniture. For instance, you might be able to add a long skirt to a crib. This can be a place where you can hide away other unsightly items, at least until your baby starts to crawl. Of course once again you'll really want to keep safety in mind but this can give your room a vintage air and a very soft feminine look to it.

One thing that you want to consider is that someday this will be a kid's bedroom furniture. This means that you probably want to go for more of a quality piece. This furniture is going to transition with them for a lifetime. This means that it should be very appropriate in scale to the size of the room so that your child always has lots of space to play and even entertain friends as they get older.

Sometimes you just can't go wrong with very simple pieces. A good example the this would be just to go with white boys bedroom furniture. This is can be very clean. It might even be made out of laminate wood. The great thing about this is that is so inexpensive. These are durable pieces that you really don't have to worry about if they take a beating because you really didn't spend a lot of money on them. You can always just change up the rest of the room by buying new kids bedding or going with a different wall color. This furniture can even work for a teen if you give it a coat of a fun color of paint. You could even paint it a dramatic black color later on.

There's also something to be said about going with a more sophisticated version of furniture. This could mean that you go with a darker stain color or just use a more high end wood that is also durable. This is something that can grow with your child. You will have to make sure that you still get the baby kind of theme across just by going with more delicate colors and a whimsical theme to balance out the room.
