A personalized bath can really change the way that you feel about your home. You might feel like everything is generic. You may be dreaming of a custom space but instead, everything in your home seems a little bit dated or even impersonal. You can really use a few decorating tips to define your own design style and get pieces that are very unique to your space. This doesn't mean that they have to cost a lot of money. Instead you'll really just want to use your imagination to make the most of what you do have.

If you are starting from scratch then you really going to have to strike a balance. You are really going to need to find neutral pieces that also really speak to who you are and what you want your room to look like. It's important to use neutral colors on your tile just because these remodels are so expensive. You probably won't be able to redo the entire room for quite some time. Instead, you're going to want to stick with very basic colors that will really have an enduring style to them.

This doesn't mean that your bathroom has to be boring. Instead, you can vary the neutral materials that you use. For more of a high end look then you could bring in a basic granite or marble. This is quite expensive so you might not be able to use it all the way throughout your space. Instead, you can just bring it in on the countertop or even as an accent.

You can even use an inexpensive ceramic tile in a personalized bathroom. The key is to make it all your own. You could add a tile border or an accent. This is quite inexpensive but can really change up the look. Another option would be to you just change up the size. A subway tile will have a very vintage feeling to it. You can also use larger tiles on the floor or the shower surround. This is great if you're just decorating with a plain colored tile but you still want to have a little bit of interest to your space.

You might not have a lot of money to get a personalized bath. This is where paint can really come into play. It allows you to gain a custom look without breaking your budget. If you have a neutral color room then maybe try painting your favorite color on the walls. You can make this work with almost any design style. For instance, a blue bathroom could feel either traditional, southwest, elegant, country or contemporary depending just on which shade of blue you use and how you style the rest of your space. This is really important because then you can get a very unique look on a budget.

You can also just try painting out your vanity. This allows you to change up the very traditional wood tones or just something that you aren't in love with. This way you won't have to replace it but you can also create a very unique color palette at the same time. You could go for a nature inspired look by painting it as very soft green. If you try a cream it could feel modern or shabby chic depending on the accessories that you bring into your room. For more of a dramatic or masculine element try a deep chocolate brown or black. You can always just make things seem a little bit more feminine just by bringing in a blue and chocolate brown shower curtain that will really juxtaposed the two colors and tie your entire palette together.

You might want a little bit of interest to your space so that it doesn't seem like everyone else's bathroom. Wallpaper can really add a lot of color and life to your space. However, it doesn't hold up as well in a bathroom just because of all of the water and steam. Plus, you might be a little bit turned off by this idea just because it can seem a little country or even jaded because of all the wallpaper borders that you often find in these kind of spaces.

An easy solution to this is to try experimenting with a faux finish or a paint treatment. This doesn't mean that your space has to be cheesy or dramatic. Instead, you can create a more subtle look. You could try bringing in an oversized stencil on the wall. You could even just stick with the same color of paint as your background, but then vary up the finish for more of a two tone effect. You'll also get an elegant look just by trying to do the same technique on a striped wall. This will make up for any architectural details that you don't have in your room so that you can also really get a very dramatic feeling.
