Bedroom themes really allow you to get a designer look even if you aren't an interior designer. It gives you the opportunity to make a cohesive space while still getting across a design vision. You don't have to spend a lot of money for this kind of look although it will seem high end. Here are a few tips for different bedroom themes.
Popular themes have to deal with a geographical location. For instance for a French theme you could bring in several different genres. For a French country theme you could bring in nature textures with blues and yellows and pair it with painted furniture. You could try out a floral print on your window treatments. You could also bring in ceramic accessories and tie them in with more elegant chandeliers. This theme can be feminine or rustic depending on how you style it.
Another common French theme is that of French provincial. This is more elegant than French country. You want to bring in a grand four poster bed. The feeling of this room should be very opulent with a dark wood stain. You really want to focus on bringing in very luxurious fabrics that are quite heavy. You can decorate with very dark colors for an elegant feeling. Then bring in traditional gold framed artwork to really pull everything together.
Another region specific theme is that of the Tuscan style. This is a very lively color palette that can also have an air of elegance to it. You might be able to find a leather headboard with nail head trim. Then you can decorate with prints from the Tuscan countryside that feature stucco houses. Red and yellow are very common in this design style. You may need to find a more toned down version just so that your decorating doesn't keep you awake at night.

Kids Bedroom Themes
You might really love the idea of decorating your kids room with bedroom themes. This is a very fun way to decorate that allows you to get a specific point of view across. You want to be careful to make sure that you don't create a theme that is so specific that it isn't versatile because in the future your kids design styles will probably change.
When designing a theme bedroom for a kid you really want to bring in furniture pieces that are lasting. You can decorate the theme with paint, accessories and artwork. You can even bring in bedding. However, when you go for a theme piece of furniture it only has so much life to it. You really want furniture that can grow with your child in order to maximize your budget.
Common themes for kids rooms usually focus in on different sports or fairytales. You can try out a baseball, soccer, basketball or football room. You could also go for a room inspired by your favorite children's nursery rhyme or movie. Another theme for this kind of room would be to go with a color scheme. This is where everything in the room basically revolves around the same color. This might give you a lot more design durability.

When designing a bedroom theme, you might want to consider choosing a distinct design style. This is where you would basically shop in one section of the store or a specialty store. This lends itself to a cohesive look. This theme isn’t so in-your-face as other themes, but it still does really pull the room together.
You could go for a modern style. This allows you to inexpensively buy furniture. It's also gender neutral. It focuses on clean lines and a minimalist approach that is perfect for small spaces. It can even work if you have white walls in an apartment. You can incorporate a lot of different modern art work along with splashes of color to get a unique take on this theme.
Another theme based on a specific design style would be country. You could bring in hearty wood furniture. Sometimes this design style has a very bad reputation just because it can seem very cluttered. This doesn't have to be the case. You can make a very high-end feel by bringing in beautiful patchwork quilts and keeping the less expensive accessories to a minimum.
