Picking the Perfect Window Curtains

The window curtain is really something that you should change out quite periodically. This keeps your room feeling fresh and new even if the rest of the pieces aren’t. Plus, it is so inexpensive and practical that it really gives you a lot of different options. It allows you to bring in pattern and color quite inexpensively. This is even more important in a space with French doors or a wall of windows. This almost acts as a faux wall in the space. This is why it's so vital to really make every design decision carefully.

When you think of window curtain ideas, you probably have lots of different options in your mind for hanging or colors. However it's also important to pay attention to quality even if you can't really pay a lot of money. Instead, you can just go for a few high-end details. Lined curtains have kind of a formal feeling to them. The really great thing about them is that they tend to be more energy-efficient. Plus they do block a lot of light. This is so important just because you to want a piece that is going to be functional as well as beautiful.

One thing that you'll really want to pay a lot of attention to is that this can work within a theme. For instance if you buy it for country window treatments these can have a little bit more of a homey feel to them. You could use a white cotton drape that can feel very summery. Then add in a few ruffles that are also feminine. You might want to change up the length of these items just so that it is a little bit different than what has traditionally been out there. Instead of going with fabric that just comes to the windowsill you could really take it all the way down to the floor so that the lines of the space aren’t broken up.

You could also get the country look just by doing a few simple sewing projects on the curtains or roman shades that you already have. Instead, get a basic curtain and you could try embellishing these items with lace. This allows you to bring in almost any color for that softer feminine look. Another option would be to just sew on ruffles or even several tiers of ruffles. This can be very defined and work for a living room or at least in a little girl's room. It has a very high end and designer feeling to it but it really won't take you that long to accomplish or that much fabric. It allows you to just dress up basic curtains.

Even the smallest embellishments matter. For instance, curtains are very popular in the country style. Since you have probably seen these almost everywhere you are really going to want to go the extra mile. In this case, you could just try out sewing buttons onto each of the tabs. This is a subtle embellishment but it will really relate back to different metal elements that you have going on in your room such as light fixtures or doorknobs.

Sometimes when you think of window treatments it just sounds so formal. This doesn't have to be the case especially if you are working with a very plain fabric. You can check out different fabric paint to really see if there are any options to just paint a simple monogram or even a number on each panel. This is really going to get a designer look to your space that has been featured in a lot of magazines, but you'll be doing it in a totally different way.
